The Fujin Wind Power Meter provides basic information for wind turbine siting. The wind power density measurement provides a much better measure of wind potential than average speed alone. Wind power is related to wind speed cubed i.e.. Speed X Speed X Speed. A location with several windy days followed by several days with little wind can produce more energy than a constant wind with the same average.
The meter is updated every 2 seconds and the information is shown on a large digital liquid crystal display (LCD). Wind speed can be displayed in Miles per hour, Meters per second or Kilometers per hour. Sensor cable runs of 1000 feet or more may be made with no loss of accuracy.
When no wind speed is detected Fujin runs a diagnostic test on the resistance of the anemometer circuit to detect damage to the cable or anemometer.
