Need an Accurate Wind Direction Indicator? Get the Comptus Wind Direction Transmitter

Wind direction sensor

With so many wind direction indicators on the market, choosing the right one can be difficult. How much resolution do you need?  How accurate must the readings be for your application?  With the right information, you will have no trouble finding the wind direction instrument that fits your needs to a T. Whatever your application, you will enjoy accurate information that makes systems more efficient, work safer, and recreational activities easier.

A Top-of-The-Line Wind Direction Indicator

Although there are multiple options for a wind direction instrument, one product stands out as being as superior; the Comptus Wind Direction Transmitter. Also known as the model A70-D, this device is designed to provide electrical signals that are in perfect proportion to wind direction

One unique aspect of this device is that the translator uses a potentiometric wind vane. Potentiometric sensors are designed to provide years of extremely precise, reliable readings.  The precision potentiometer gives an angular resolution better than four degrees.    Other devices utilize discrete switches that provide only 8 or 16 “compass points” to indicate wind direction. And unlike other wind direction indicators, the Comptus A70-D is unique in that it boasts a “dead band” of less than 5 degrees for the 360-degrees of continuous rotation.  With a 50 million rotation average life expectancy, the A70-D potentiometer assures years of trouble free performance.

The translator (circuit) board is designed for installation in existing electrical cabinets, or can be custom mounted in various NEMA rated enclosures suited to conditions. Enclosures offered by Comptus can be rated to protect the translator board from rain, wind-blown dust, ice, and corrosion.

This transmitter wind direction indicator is commonly configured to operate on 12-24 VDC with a 4-20 mA output signal. But like most Comptus systems, the A70-D can also be factory configured to operate on 24 VAC, 120 VAC or 230 VAC power, and with custom output signals such as 0-1 mA, 0-1V, 0-5V or 0-10V.

For any product, make sure the wind direction sensor shows it to be calibrated, high performing, and from a reliable manufacturing company. At Comptus, we provide our customers with only the best wind direction transmitters available.
